The state competitions are considered the primary educational level with the division and national levels showcasing outstanding performance and honoring significant pedagogical achievement. In order to receive the monetary award, winners are required to perform on the Junior Winners Concert, which takes place from 3:30–5:30 p.m. on the day following the competition at the MTNA National Conference, March 13–17, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. MTNA active membership dues must be paid before submission of the application. Winners at the Southwest Division Competition then advance to the MTNA National Competition held at the MTNA National Conference.
